Eugène Guillevic: “Poem”

Poem

You need a little poverty
in your daily life.

It’s like the need you feel
for a whitewashed wall.

Too much richness
of words or ideas

will keep you from your center,
from staying or going

wherever you want to
wherever you need to

that you may open yourself
that you may receive.

Your innermost chamber
is a place of poverty.

Eugène Guillevic
