Antonio Machado: “Dream”

The torn cloud, the rainbow
still shimmering in the sky,
and a beacon of rainfall
and fields wreathed in sun.

I woke up.  Who disturbs
the magic crystal of my dream?
My heart kept pounding,
astonished and scattered.

The lemon tree in flower,
the cypress in the garden,
green meadows, sun, water, rainbows.

And the water in your hair!
And everything in memory was lost
like a soap bubble in the wind.
