Pablo Neruda: “Always”

Always

I have no jealousy
for what came before me.

Come with a man
on your back,
come with a hundred men in your hair,
come with a thousand men between your breasts and your feet,
come like a river
carrying the drowned
down to the furious sea,
to the ageless foam,
to eternity.

Bring them all
to where I wait:
we will always be alone,
we will always be you and I
alone on this earth
ready to begin living.

Pablo Neruda
