“I Love the Women …”
I love the women of ancient days
whom poets adored and lavished with praise.
I love the cities where a faceless wall
still mourns a dynasty’s rise and fall.
I love the cities that one day will reign
when none of today’s inhabitants remain.
I love the women—slender and sublime,
who sleep unborn still in the womb of time.
One day they will loose a pale star that gleams
with the same beauty as the beauty of my dreams.
